Whole house renovation
This unit is located in Yio Chu Kang, sits within a calm and peaceful neighbourhood. When the clients first approached us, they shared several key preferences: they did not want a television at home, they want a space where the have place their collection of books, and they did not intend to relocate again. With this in mind, we designed the home not around a TV feature wall, but as a transitional, multi-functional space that supports their lifestyle.
We adopted a modern Victorian concept, incorporating clean lines and contemporary curves to create a softer, more inviting interior. An open-concept kitchen with an island was a specific request from the clients, so we removed a wall to achieve this. During discussions, the husband mentioned that he often uses his PC for late-night gaming but did not want to disturb his wife’s sleep. To address this, we integrated his PC into the kitchen island, allowing him to use the dining table as needed while keeping noise and light away from the bedroom. We also added a concealed sliding door so the kitchen can be enclosed when necessary.
The clients’ final request was a “his and hers” vanity, but they preferred to avoid wood or materials that may deteriorate easily in a bathroom environment. To meet this requirement, we designed the vanity using tiles and cement finishes, ensuring durability and easy maintenance.
